Place the bowl-shaped part of the airlock on your wide-mouth quart or half gallon canning jar. Then place the cone-shaped part with the cone down on top of bowl. Place and tighten a canning jar screw top ring over the airlock (wide mouth). Fill your airlock with 1 tablespoon of water to protect your fermentation project. Monitor the liquid level and add liquid as necessary, being careful not to overfill.
